Evaluation of Medium Format Film Images (Unedited)
For my first set of images, I used my medium format camera, an Agfa 1 which I sourced from Budapest, to capture different nature spots throughout Ontario, specifically in Toronto. During my time in the city, I found myself feeling isolated and disconnected from others due to its harsh atmosphere. Hence, I sought solace in various hiking spots during the golden hour. These adventures gave me a chance to enjoy the fresh air, the peaceful ambience, and the breathtaking views.
By using a medium-format camera and practising mindful walking, I discovered a meditative, slow, and intentional process for capturing photographs. My journey to find a connection with nature through the camera lens was a learning process, and I often found myself taking multiple shots of the same spot to get the perfect image. I would shoot a spot anytime I felt a sense of peace and calm. However, as I was still figuring out how to capture the most refined image with this fairly new camera, some images turned out slightly underexposed and blurry.
Additionally, I struggled to find access to a scanner at TMU, so I had my film developed and scanned downtown. Unfortunately, this led to some inconsistencies in the final results of my images. In retrospect, I would have rescanned my images if my film hadn’t been destroyed at the shop.
