Final Evaluation
The consent awareness GIF was created to raise awareness about consent and sexual assault. I used stereotypical and conventional traits of what makes women sexy, such as red-painted nails and lingerie, to draw the viewer in. However, this was done to provide a contrast with antiquated perspectives., as the GIF embroidered the saying ‘Did I Say Yes?’ to communicate that consent can never be assumed without communication.
During the evaluation process, feedback was received, and changes were made to improve the GIF’s effectiveness. These changes included adding a collaboration logo between Levi’s and Denim Day on the white border, which helped to promote the collaboration. The open zipper was also paused for at least 5 seconds, allowing viewers to better understand the purpose of the unzipping of jeans. Additionally, the saturation of red was increased, making the embroidered message stand out more prominently. The image was also cropped closer to the model, making it easier for viewers to see the details of the message.
Overall, the editing process was time-consuming but ultimately rewarding, resulting in a high-quality GIF that effectively conveyed the intended message. The changes made during the evaluation process improved the effectiveness of the GIF, making it more engaging and better able to convey its message. If the project were to be done again, the creator would have embroidered the saying twice over to make the text more visible and reduce the amount of post-production work.
